Description

Aged in wooden casks in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, the final blend of this 30 Year Old Tawny Port by Offley resulted in an amber coloured wine, with appealing greenish hints. Its bouquet is intense and complex, with notes of caramel, mocha, toasted nuts and tobacco leaf. This is a very well-balanced and unctuous wine that shows a delicate structure and sublime finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.

Offley Port represents an established heritage, but the contemporary, fruit-driven style of the brand is designed to bring Offley closer to both current and potential customers, defining Offley as THE choice of the younger, fashion-conscious consumer. The Company was founded in 1737 by Englishman William Offley, modernised, and expanded over the years and eventually purchased by Sogrape in 1997. Wines are vinified at Sogrape's modern Douro winery, Quinta da Boavista, and matured at Offley's traditional cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.

RS 122 g/l.
Pale-mid tawny amber. Tobacco, dusty minerals, some mahogany tones and toasted hazelnut, with only background dried herb and dried red fruit remaining. Intense sweetness, with fresh, balancing acidity, and still some tannins on the mid palate that give a sense of dryness. Mellow, vanilla and hazelnut finish that has fair length, but like the Offley 20 Year Old, left me wanting more. (TJ) JancisRobinson.com
